Humans are the most flexible elements of an assembly system, offering many advantages over machines. Rather than remove human workers and develop fully automated solutions, PISA’s main objective is to keep humans in the loop but to support them with qualified tools. This integrative approach combines human creativity, intelligence, knowledge, flexibility and skills with the advantages of sophisticated technical systems and tools, such as electronic and physical power, speed and accuracy. Such an approach makes it possible to produce complex on-demand products at greatly reduced cost.
