KOBOT – Cooperative Robot Systems for a Versatile Production
U. Schmidt, R. Konzack, “KOBOT – Cooperative Robot Systems for a Versatile Production”, Proceedings of the 2008 IEEE International Conference on Distributed Human-Machine Systems, March 9-12, 2008, Athens, Greece, pp. 503-507.
Automation has changed due to the growing versatility in modern production. Years ago, the industry recognized that integrating persons in the production process increases flexibility and decreases complexity. To the classic types of robots today, one associates on one hand a system where the operator works in direct contact with the robot or, on the other hand, intelligent manipulators, i.e. KOBOTs. The KOBOT was developed from a manipulator, i.e. a hand-operated system with power support in the vertical direction. The possibilities the new Kobot technology offers will be presented. Using the first realized application, a direct comparison to the conventional manipulator will be demonstrated.
