In this paper were presented some requirements for a co-operative robot cell in flexible handling of heavy parts. Especially safety and functional aspects were presented and discussed. Also ways to implement human-machine interfaces in a collaborative robot (COBOT) were presented. The aspects were considered in an assembling task where a rear screen is assembled into car door. An existing robot cell was modified so that it acts like a collaborative robot i.e. COBO.  As results a flexible assembly cell was created.
